Stephen Powers' "Love Letter To Brooklyn" mural

Such sad news! Artist Stephen Powers has confirmed that his beloved Love Letter To Brooklyn mural over Fulton Mall in Downtown Brooklyn will be demolished. Macy's, which owns the structure, has plans to develop it into a mixed-use building. The giant letters and words covered the exterior of the Brooklyn Macy's parking garage including the skyway connecting the buildings.

The mural was done back in 2011 and took about 13 days to complete. It is a beautiful addition to the neighborhood and helped bring about the revitalization of the area at the time.

This isn't Powers' first "Love Letter" though. Many of his works, past and present, can be found in his book, A Love Letter To The City.

Have a look at some photos I shot of the building currently unoccupied and with the mural still intact.
