World Trade Center Transportation Hub Finally Set to Open in March

I knew when they first announced the 2009 proposed opening date of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub that it would most likely be several more years beyond that date. The entire WTC construction site has been a bit of a circus ever since bidding went up to design a suitable replacement structure and memorial for the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The Freedom Tower (One World Trade Center) alone saw many delays in its construction.

Now, after countless delays, there's an official March 2016 opening date for the WTC Transportation Hub. This one seems a lot more believable given the near-completion of the hub's exterior (which you can see if you walk by it downtown).

If you've ever walked through the PATH station there, you can get a glimpse of the beautiful white marble interior which no doubt will lend itself nicely to Santiago Calatrava's "bird" station seen below. I'm excited for this to open already so that Lower Manhattan can get back to being more than just a construction zone.
