I miss my apartment in LA
I've been thinking about my most recent trip back to LA. While there were many things I didn't miss about living in LA, it still was nice to call a place home that wasn't just some hotel in a city.
This past trip put me smack dab in the middle of Silver Lake, a neighborhood that I wished I had chosen to live in when I was living in LA, and a neighborhood in which I spent many, many hours just hanging out in (running, reading, drinking coffee, working, etc.). It felt like home for a little bit which makes me of course think of my actual home during that time -- my humble studio in Koreatown (actual picture above).
I just miss my own place. Hanging up artwork and photos, cooking for myself, having everything exactly where I want it (and where I know I'll find it). Not having to share a single thing with anybody else -- including my car. I miss that a lot actually. I miss my office -- my tiny little corner of my apartment which I hunched over for many hours and many late nights. I miss my cats. I miss the crazy sunshine seeping in through the awkward blinds and how I'd wake up to the light because it made my room way too hot to continue sleeping in (I don't miss not having AC...but I don't have AC now so I guess it's all the same).
I need to go back soon again.
