A brief history of the Little Trees car air freshener

I guess I should have known that those little evergreen tree-shaped air fresheners found commonly hanging from the rear-view mirror of cars worldwide have an official name: Little Trees. The little air fresheners were made in 1952 by a man named Julius Samann in Watertown, NY and have since become a sort of generic trademark for all car air fresheners.

Hopefully the next time I'm up near the Northern part of New York State, I'll remember to make a pitstop in Watertown, NY. I'd love to randomly check out the factory where all these are made (yes, they're still made there).
