For only the 3rd time since 1857, The Atlantic is endorsing a US Presidential candidate

Anybody who has read the last 6 months' of The Atlantic will find this coming naturally: For only the 3rd time since its founding in 1857, The Atlantic is coming out to endorse a Presidential candidate; they are siding with Hillary Clinton.

The landscape for this particular run for President has been quite unusual for both sides, but Donald Trump's downward spiral into conspiracy theories and threats has forced a lot of people and publications who normally don't endorse a Presidential candidate to speak up. I can only assume that publications like The Atlantic are taking this unusual step because Trump, unlike other GOP candidates in the past, is actually doing harm to the democratic process (which all parties rely on to function as it should) by saying outright that the election is rigged. This, of course, is all so that he can soften the inevitable blow to his reputation once he realizes just how much he will lose by once the election is over (I honestly believe he's just given up on campaigning for the office of the Presidency and is just in attack mode).

Anyway, The Atlantic has written quite a bit about the decision.
