Canon issues counterfeit warning for EF 50mm F/1.8 II lenses

These nifty-fifty lenses typically don't break or malfunction even though they are on the cheaper end of the Canon lens spectrum and they have a proven track record of being incredibly reliable. So I suppose when Canon saw enough of these fake lenses to warrant issuing a press release about them, they figured they'd remind people that you basically get what you pay for. In this case, a fake lens that doesn't work for long.
