The stories behind Harold 'Doc' Edgerton's high-speed photographs

Harold 'Doc' Edgerton is known as the father of modern high-speed photography. An engineer by day, Edgerton pioneered various contraptions for use in high-speed photography, creating amazing photos and videos of things that at the time were incapable of being perceived slowly by the human eye. Today, this sort of technology is available in smartphones, but Edgerton turned his engineering expertise into an art (his work is in the MoMA).
