Redesigning IMDB

Rémi Fayolle and Gilles Bertaux completely redesigned IMDB. In their mockup, described wonderfully on Medium, they try to minimize corporate sponsorship of the site (mainly ads) and bring the site back to its roots of providing information for fans of films and TV shows. That means putting relevant information at the very top of each page, like trailers, show schedules, and latest news concerning that title.

In addition to title pages, they revamped the search function and included a somewhat Netflix-like suggestion feature that could come in handy -- especially since Amazon owns IMDB. Of course, none of this is actually being used at the moment, but it's an example of how a site like IMDB can present a wealth of information from its database in a thoughtful and beautiful way.
