Why Only Apple Users Can Trash Their Files
A little bit of computing history here. Ever wonder why no other operating system using a Trash folder name/directory like in Mac OS (I should be writing macOS, but whatever)? There's a Recycle Bin for Windows and Shredders for other OSes, but almost no other widespread use of Trash despite that being the commonly used term for files people want to delete.
Atlas Obscura notes that it's because Apple had a small court victory in the late '80s that prevented other OSes from borrowing the Trash icon (not the idea), so companies just went ahead and used a different term to illustrate the same concept. NOW YOU KNOW!
