The video editing style of Casey Neistat
Nerdwriter focuses one of his recent videos on famous YouTuber and internet personality Casey Neistat. The video focuses on Casey's excellent ability to vlog about his life almost daily through expertly filmed shots neatly edited so that you don't see how much work goes into making one's life seem amazing for a YouTube audience (I actually think Casey does live an interesting life, ultimately made to look even more fun through his vlogs).
What's interesting here is what we don't see in Casey's videos. That is, how many takes it might take him to film a sequence, or how he essentially has to run his shots TWICE -- once to set the camera in place, then back again so he's out of frame, and then once again running back into frame so he can edit the shot of him running into frame for us to see. When you think about it, Casey must be running zigzags and circles all day long just to make his videos look like he is running from one point to the next.
