Across the USA by Train for Just $213

So weird. I swear I posted about Derek Low's amazing breakdown of taking Amtrak across the United States on a budget, but I can't seem to find it anywhere in my archives here. Oh well, anyway, if you're a railfan or just interested in seeing the US without having to drive, this journey by Amtrak may be the way to go.

And recently Derek has offered to plan a similar trip for you for a fee of $49. That's pretty generous and quite amazing I think. I may have to do this soon.
