Pentatonix covers Hallelujah
I've been listening to various versions of "Hallelujah" lately thanks in large part to Malcolm Gladwell's Revisionist History episode on the song (I wrote about that here). It's a great song and it's always cool to see different artists cover it in their own way (in fact, arguably the most popular version of the song is a cover of the original!).
Anyway, here's Pentatonix doing a great acapella version of the song.
Revisionist History: Hallelujah
I just finished this interesting podcast from Malcolm Gladwell's Revisionist History about the song "Hallelujah" by Canadian songwriter Leonard Cohen. The most famous version of this song is sung by Jeff Buckley which I didn't know until now was actually a cover of another cover of the original. And the original song by Leonard Cohen? It took forever to write. There are many, many, many verses and most of the covers you hear of Cohen's song pick and choose the verses rather loosely. It's a really fascinating look at how one song evolves from pen and paper to pop culture.
I've included Leonard Cohen's version and Jeff Buckley's version below.
