Moog's Minimoog Model D app is now $5
Can you really do all of this with this Minimoog app? This seems amazing for $5.
Saturday Song: Chvrches - The Mother We Share (Moog Sound Lab)
One of my favorite musical acts putting together a live show of their song at the Moog Sound Lab studio.
If you missed it earlier, Moog released a new $30 app that emulates the classic Model 15 modular synthesizer on iOS devices. It is utterly fantastic and incredibly affordable for such a musical instrument.
More Moog videos
The recent release of the Moog Model 15 Modular Synthesizer app made me miss the days of music class at LaGuardia high school. I remember one of my music theory classes having like 10 of these synthesizers available for us to play. At the time, I wasn't hugely interested in it, but looking back at it all now, I am forever grateful that I was at least given the opportunity to freeplay on these guys. Thanks Mr. Fogel, you really were one of my favorite teachers.
Here's a bunch of videos of these synths.
First is a video of Craig Leon talking about how he remade classical music on the Moog synthesizer for an entire album called Bach to Moog.
The Moog Model 15 Modular Synthesizer for iOS
This is pretty darn amazing. Moog just recently released a $30 iOS app that simulates a $10,000 Moog Model 15 Synthesizer. And by all accounts so far, it does the job really well. This is the amazing thing about tablets and touchscreen capabilities -- you basically have the functionality of a full-fledge console instrument (a huge one at that) that can fit in your backpack -- flat!
Moog uploaded a bunch of samples of what you can do with this amazing $30 app. Case in point, you can do anything. Just listen. Then download the app here!
