Ultimate Nintendo: Guide to the NES Library
Check out this amazing all-in-one volume that chronicles and reviews every NES video game release ever. The book by Pat Contri is a whopping 437 pages (textbook size) and features more than 750 North American NES games as well as just about every special edition cartridge ever released for the NES console. With short articles interwoven in between, this seems like a must-have for every nostalgic gamer. Unfortunately for now, it's sold out. But you can order one for early 2017 delivery when the 2nd round of printing finishes.
Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition
Whoa, this came out of nowhere. Nintendo just announced that they will be re-releasing the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in a smaller package. The newly dubbed "Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition" will be available November 11th for $60 and will come pre-installed with 30 classic NES games.
This new classic NES looks to be updated with better graphics too as it is now capable of outputting to a TV via an HDMI port.
The silly thing here though is that the console is basically sold as-is, meaning it can't actually play any additional games from the huge NES library. You're stuck with the 30 games below.
24k Gold Analogue Nt makes the NES worth playing again
I didn't know this, but Analogue Nt, the company that makes that newly fashioned NES system for the digital age, has sold a 24k Gold version. A few people have gotten their hands on one already and it is gorgeous. Fingerprint magnet I'm sure, but still pretty nonetheless. The console has a beautiful transparent bottom to see the layout of the circuit board inside and the usual NES and Famicom game cartridge slots on top to play over 2000 titles available for the NES.
For the hardcore retro gamer, this is pretty great! HDMI, upscaling to 1080p, and high-quality sound might just make the old NES worth playing again!
