Drones Compared: Phantom 4 vs Mavic Pro vs Phantom 4+
I flew my Mavic Pro for the first time tonight. Man, it's been a long time since I felt so nervous to play with new tech! But wow, flying the Mavic Pro is simple! And it truly is dummy-proof (which is a good thing, because I'm a dummy!).
This video from iPhonedo compares the 3 latest DJI consumer drones -- the Phantom 4, the Mavic Pro, and the Phantom 4 Pro+ (the latter two drones are nearly identical in features except for obstacle avoidance which the Pro+ has a slight advantage).
Conclusion? All 3 drones are great. Really great. Like, you-can't-go-wrong great!
The DJI Phantom 4 is under $1000 now
If size isn't a factor for you, the truly amazing Phantom 4 quadcopter is on sale today for $849 with free shipping on Amazon Prime. That's an incredible deal on a fully-packed drone with 4K video and 12MP stills.
If you want to compare, the Mavic Pro (which I recently bought) is essentially this drone but just in a smaller form factor. Same great quality (a little better quality than Mavic Pro actually). You can't go wrong here.
We've finally made it -- sub $1000 drones for the masses! Bring on the price wars!
DJI MAVIC vs. PHANTOM 4 vs. GOPRO KARMA
Yep. The comparison video we all need. I thought I was sold on the GoPro Karma but after watching Casey's video of the Mavic Pro, all I can say is WOW. This DJI Mavic Pro is the one I want now.
If you're wondering about the softness in the video above, Casey has already posted an update. Apparently, the focus works differently on the Mavic Pro and he didn't know that -- so basically he filmed it all out of focus by accident.
The DJI Phantom 4 is the drone I'd buy
It's finally here. The DJI Phantom 4. This is the drone I would buy. It's not made for pros really, more for prosumers who care about quality and ease of use and less about the ultimate top of the line features. That's not to say that the Phantom 4 isn't packed with great features though. The on-board camera can record in 4K, the drone can fly up to 28 minutes per battery charge, and the new thing about this drone is that it has active tracking features that work much better than standard GPS-follow.
I want this. I want this bad. GIMME GIMME.
