Stand By Me

I recently watched the 1986 film Stand By Me and finally know firsthand why this film stands the test of time. It is a fantastic story of young boys sticking together and going on an adventure that only a group of immature kids would undertake. At its core, the film speaks about the importance of real friendships to help us get through tough times.

As you probably guessed even without watching the film that the movie title is taken from Ben E. King's song "Stand By Me". This song has been on repeat a lot in my playlists lately mainly due to John Mark McMillan's fantastic medley featuring a cover of this song (you can listen to it here).

...

I have gone back and forth writing this post and honestly I lost track of exactly what I wanted to write here. I think I was just trying to record something down to remember how every version of "Stand By Me" (the song) has really hit me hard lately. Years from now, when I listen to this song -- any version of it -- I know I'll think of not only the movie but this incredibly difficult time in my life.

So I guess what I'm saying now is...GO WATCH THIS MOVIE!
