You can ride a continuous 9-mile bike path from Brooklyn to The Bronx now
I didn't make this connection at first, but apparently with the recent completion of the Chrystie Street bike lane, there is now a continuous 9-mile bike lane route from Brooklyn all the way to the Bronx. I've biked on every single part of this stretch of bike lane and it is always fun to do because you pass by so much of NYC at a leisurely pace. Spectacular views of the East River as well as an option to venture into Randall's Island (and then into the Bronx).
By the way, if you don't already know, you can download the NYC Bike Map here.
Exploring Port Morris
I did something kind of random last week. I biked to Port Morris in the Bronx. I've been wanting to come to this area for a while to explore a few spots but just never found the time to. As it turns out, with all the new upgrades to the bike paths on the East Side as well as on Randall's Island, biking to Port Morris is pretty easy. I'd even say beautiful as you cross over the multiple bridges to get to The Bronx. And since Port Morris is only parallel to about 125th Street or so, it's really not that far, making this my new preferred route for a decent ride without going too far.
Here are a few photos.
