Why old SUVs are going up in value
Neat mini review of an old Toyota Land Cruiser and a Grand Wagoneer by Doug Demuro. BUT, the real takeaway here is that there is a rental car company based in Minnesota called Morrie's Heritage Car Connection that lets you rent these classic SUVs. All the joy of driving one without forking over the exuberant amount of money to buy one pre-used. I would like to try!
The IIHS is now testing and rating car headlights
I'm the only person who cares about this I'm sure. But I think it's pretty great that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is now giving ratings to vehicles for their headlights. In this initial round of tests, the Toyota Prius takes the cake with an impressive 400+ feet viewing distance using just regular headlights. And this is all without blinding traffic coming in the opposite direction (the new tests account for that measurement as well).
Here's a look at the first Toyota Rav4 NYC taxi cab
I was walking outside my apartment yesterday when I saw, from a distance, a NYC taxi that I've never seen before. I walked a bit closer and saw that it was a brand-new Toyota RAV4. I spoke to the driver for a bit and he mentioned that this model was recently approved by the TLC and that he was the very first cab driver to use it in NYC. Pretty cool, huh!
