Flying Over Owens Lake During California’s Drought

Vogue has a really great article about California's drought in relation to Owens Lake. The article goes quite in depth about how the community around Owens Lake has essentially been in litigation in some form or another with the city of Los Angeles' Department of Water and Power over improper water distribution and inadequate care of the now dry lake bed to prevent dust pollution (in 2001 the dust blowing from the dry lake bed was the largest cause of pollution in the country).

The article includes some very amazing drone aerial footage of the lake bed and the surrounding area as well as this image below of Mulholland’s original Los Angeles Aqueduct (I WANT TO SEE THIS!!).

While reading this article, all I could think of was how Los Angeles shouldn't be a city as big as it is -- there's really no natural water going there and all the water they do have is "stolen" or borrowed heavily from other places, often piped in via huge infrastructure projects.
