2nd Time Around: Where The Wild Things Are

Back in 2009 when Spike Jonze's adaptation of the children's book Where The Wild Things Are hit the big screen, I was incredibly excited for it. One, because it was one of my favorite books growing up (and I thought it would be neat to see it as a movie) and two, because Spike Jonze was behind it (I watched a lot of his skateboarding videos).

I didn't feel like it was anything like the pictures in the book and I recall not liking the movie at all. I watched it once and never bothered to re-watch it. I blame the hype on that Arcade Fire song. Hah.

Fast-forward to this week where I randomly decided to re-watch the film. Man, is it good. Incredible how 7 years of growth and life-change can make you appreciate the exact same film in a different way. Am I Max? Am I Carol? I think I might be both.
