Why AC Window Units Are Still A Thing In NYC
Towards the end of this video, you meet Kurt Swanson, the founder of the Noria A/C — now called Kapsul — which basically took a huge crowdfunding initial investment and never delivered a product. Why is CNBC peddling this junk?
We can thank movie theaters for making air conditioners popular
Heh, I just learned that air conditioning was popularized in the 1930s by movie theaters! A neat fact considering that today in NYC, it will most likely hit a real-feel of a bajillion degrees (we're in a heat wave right now).
The Noria Air Conditioner is super slim and easy to install
Are we finally getting rid of the giant window-installed air conditioners? Maybe! A new but annoyingly-on-Kickstarter device called the Noria aims to give some room back to sunlight and curtains with this slim window air conditioner.
While being small is pretty cool, the best part of this device to me is the ability to store it away when the winter months roll through). Can't really do that in a decent way with those traditional A/C window units.
