I've seen a few videos of foley artists at work, but the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the people who put on the Oscars) has this much more in-depth look at foley artists doing their job. The most fascinating thing here to me is the vertical line in the AB reels they get that help the artists time up their sound effects to the clip. It's like Karaoke with no words.

Veteran foley artist John Roesch brings us through the amazing Skywalker Sound warehouse to give us a sneak peek into some of the sounds we might recall from movies in history. Pretty cool.

Watch this foley artist design sound for a short film

Director Oliver Holms does a great job of showing what a foley artist does to help make a film as good as it can be. Sometimes ambient noises can't be picked up during filming, so a foley artist must come in and recreate or enhance that sound in post.
