Remembering the iMac G3

I was just reading this article at 512 Pixels about the Bondi-Blue iMac G3 and how it became the computer that saved Apple from ultimate failure back in 1998. With Apple recently celebrating its 40th birthday (anniversary?), it's fun to read so many people's personal experiences with specific Apple products that have not only changed their lives but also the life of the Apple company itself.

The Bondi-Blue iMac lives in infamy for ushering in the era of personal computing that broke away from beige-colored desktop boxes and two-piece machines for display and computer. This was the consumer-version of an all-in-one and by all accounts it sold very well.

Although Apple went on to release the iMac G3 in several other colors (see below), the color I associate most with this form factor of a computer is the Bondi-Blue version. But if you're interested in reading about the other variations, this is a great article to start with.
