Why babies in medieval paintings look so ugly
Haha, Vox coming to the rescue to answer my high school and college queries.
Gallery of paintings showing the Olsen twins hiding from paparazzi
I'm spending this morning reading up on a somewhat recent art exhibit called THNK 1994 that is curated by Vivana Olen and Matt Harkins. It featured the artwork of Laura Collins who painted several depictions of the Olsen twins hiding from paparazzi. At the time of this posting, all but 2 of the Olsen twins paintings have been sold so you still have a chance to snag one if you've got the money to spare (otherwise, you can browse them in a smaller format online). Pretty interesting museum.
This is the duo's 2nd curated exhibition of work, their first being The Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan 1994 Museum (it was funded on Kickstarter).
Check out the Rolling Stone video and feature article on this exhibit.
Hyper-realistic paintings by Richard Estes
I guess I missed this exhibition at the Museum of Arts and Design featuring the work of photorealistic painter Richard Estes. It ran last year and showed some of the process of Estes' work including some of the photographs that inspired his paintings.
You can see some images below and pick up a few books with his work if you're interested in seeing more.
