Fly By Night by Duke Riley
At sunset for 3 nights a week, for 6 weeks, Duke Riley will release thousands of pigeons off of an old helicopter landing ship in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. These pigeons have small LEDs attached to their feet which creates a wonderful light show in the night sky for viewers.
The public art show will run until June 12, 2016 and unfortunately reserved tickets (free) have all been accounted for. However, you can add yourself to the waitlist and see if you get lucky.
Pigeon breeding ground
Ok, to be honest, I didn't stick around here long enough to actually figure out if pigeons were breeding. But damn, I've never felt both amazement and disgust like I did today at this location. This is at 40th Street and Dyer Avenue after I took a wrong turn and nearly drove into the Lincoln Tunnel (on a related note, what the hell is wrong with the roads in this area?!).
I suspect that this image below is an everyday occurrence. So if you want to get your Instagram shot for Jeff Staple, maybe this is your place.
