Alpha Clock Five: A DIY programmable desk clock
This is so cool. The Alpha Clock Five is a DIY desk clock that can serve as an alarm clock as well as a giant 5-letter display. Sure you can probably buy a clock that tells the time this big out of the box, but the beautiful thing about this kit is that you get to learn how to program it, solder pieces together, and get it working.
It's a beginner-level programming kit that also serves a great function. Might be a bit late now for Christmas giving, but if you don't care, you can grab one for $175.
LaMetric custom LED clock
This LaMetric LED clock is still a bit expensive for my taste, but I'm really hoping that in a few months time that these LED clocks not only start coming out in more variations but also start falling in price. I've been looking for a basic time and data display for my room and something like this is perfect. Great size, nice clear display, and fully customizable. I just can't do the $200.
