The rare white Citi Gold Citibike
I spotted two of these this past week. It's the rare white Citibike which advertises the Citi Gold card. The entire bike is reflective. So cool.
Chris King x Spurcycle release limited edition bicycle bell
I use the Spurcycle bicycle bell on my own bike and love it. Right now, Spurcycle and Chris King are selling a limited edition blue version of this beautiful bell for $69. Get it before they're gone!
The 'Cure' complete bike from LEADER is $389.40
I'm all for cheaper bikes, but man, having the Cure go down in price to $389.40 is surely a sign the bike industry is falling flat. I guess we're all near market-saturation?
If you're in the market for a new bike, this is a great price on a complete bicycle with style. Get it now.
The Dutch Reach might help drivers avoid dooring cyclists
I remember learning about this a few years back and since then I've made it a habit to always exit cars doing this method. I just didn't know it had a name (although I knew it was from the Netherlands). It's called the "Dutch Reach" apparently and it involves opening car doors with your opposite arm, forcing your body to make a slight turn and in effect making you also look out for any cyclists coming your way (either via your blindspot or your mirror). It's effective and I wish it was taught more in NYC.
How to skitch in NYC
Heh, this is a pretty hilarious video about how to skitch in NYC. That is, how to get around NYC on a skateboard or bike while holding onto a moving vehicle.
New two-way bike lane at Union Square North
NYC DOT has implemented a new traffic measure at Union Square which includes a much-needed two-way bike lane at Union Square North. If you're traveling South, the bike lane brings you along a newly painted green bike path that extends down Broadway to a shared bike/car lane. If you're going North, the bike lane goes from 4th Avenue and then crosses over to the South-bound car lane in a protected bike path before whooshing you along 17th Street. Enjoy the ride!
