Dave Eggers' book, The Circle, now has a movie trailer
Except for the ending, I really enjoyed reading Dave Eggers' The Circle this year. Now, it seems like the book is being made into a movie of epic proportions. And as you've probably learned about society's fears being reflected in films, here is our fear of an omniscient technology company owning our very lives in the near future. Can't wait to see this!
Compilation video of bookstores and libraries in film
Wait, not a single mention of The Pagemaster???!!! I hope to one day have a portion of my home look at least something like The Morgan Library.
Ultimate Nintendo: Guide to the NES Library
Check out this amazing all-in-one volume that chronicles and reviews every NES video game release ever. The book by Pat Contri is a whopping 437 pages (textbook size) and features more than 750 North American NES games as well as just about every special edition cartridge ever released for the NES console. With short articles interwoven in between, this seems like a must-have for every nostalgic gamer. Unfortunately for now, it's sold out. But you can order one for early 2017 delivery when the 2nd round of printing finishes.
Drift Magazine Vol. 5 - Melbourne
I am so excited for the next issue of one of my favorite magazines, Drift. If you haven't heard of it, Drift Magazine dedicates every issue to coffee culture in one particular city. Volume 5 of Drift will go to the coffee capital of the world -- Melbourne! Not only do I love this city, but I think it truly does encapsulate everything about coffee culture in a tidy package. Pre-order the issue now!
And here's a tip: Even though Volume 3 and Volume 4 of Drift magazine is sold out on their website, you can pick up one of the few remaining copies available on Amazon! Who would have thought?!
So here you go: Vol 4 Stockholm and Vol 3 Havana.
Designed By Apple in California
This would have been a great April Fool's Day joke (if Apple even participated in that sort of thing). But it's not. And if you've managed to avoid Apple news this past week, let me be the first to introduce you to Designed By Apple in California, a photo book that chronicles 20 years of Apple design. It can be yours for $300. Or for $200 for the smaller I'm-poor-size.
If you want this book, let me point you in the direction of one that has existed for quite some time at a fraction of the cost. Iconic: A Photographic Tribute To Apple Innovation is essentially the same book with gorgeous photos of Apple products. And the best part is that the book is less than $50.
Here are a few videos of people showing off Apple's insanely expensive coffee table book.
