Mercedes-Benz Will Unveil A Pickup Truck Soon
Is the world ready for a Mercedes-Benz pickup truck? Well, it better be because in just a few days in Stockholm the luxury car company is set to unveil a luxury workhorse in the shape of a pickup truck. I guess this isn't too surprising since Mercedes-Benz already makes a great deal of big trucks. Adding a pickup to the normal line-up would seem like common sense.
Japan's DAJIBAN subculture takes old Dodge vans and races them on the track
Road & Track posted a little short article about a unique subculture in Japan that is known for racing old Dodge B-series vans. These vans are often stripped and completely re-tooled with much more powerful engines. In a sense, they are the perfect sleeper car -- slow-looking but packing tons of power under that metal body. I would love to go to one of these meets.
A few days of traffic, an entirely different feel
The last time I went to LA, I was really stressed. Stressed about a lot of things and stressed about that traffic. What a difference a few months makes. I always enjoy going to LA because it does, still, feel like a second home to me. It's the city I know 2nd best probably and one that I visit more often than any other city in the US.
But the traffic. Oh, that traffic. In the past, I've had a really hateful relationship with the traffic here. I just don't understand the way people drive in LA and why the traffic gets backed up the way it does at all hours of the day. But this most recent time, I loved the traffic. In fact, I wished there was more! The reason for this I think is because I had something to look at this time around. The graffiti on the roadside really captivated me like it does here in NYC and for probably the first time, I really wanted to know the ins and outs of the off-ramps in LA to see just how some graffiti spots were taken over. The only way from the freeway to do that of course was to be in slow-moving traffic.
Maybe this is a trick to help me just enjoy the city a little more than I already do. I can't wait to go back.
The evolution of Formula 1 racing games (1976-2015)
Ok, so I wasn't really that interested in this video, but I went ahead and hit play anyway and now I'm only making a post about it because...WHAT IN THE HELL IS THAT FIRST 1976 F1 GAME? I don't even see how that is a racing game at all. If you count that game, we've come a very long way!
How to start a fire with a pencil
Man, talk about random. If you ever drive yourself into the wilderness and have nothing but your car, a jumper cable, and a pencil in hand, this is how you use those items to start a fire so you can survive and make yourself seen!
Morgantown Personal Rapid Transit
I can't tell from this video from Tom Scott if the Morgantown PRT is open to the public or if it's just used for students attending West Virginia University. I'd like to ride this. The idea is cool and probably more directly related these days to self-driving cars than to mass public transit. The fact that you are sitting in your own little cube car though with no other passengers and non-stop service to your destination sounds like a dream commute. If I'm not mistaken, doesn't India have something like this implemented somewhere...?
