Only Yesterday by Isao Takahata (Studio Ghibli)

I've heard a few things lately about this movie from 1991 called Only Yesterday. The film is from Studio Ghibli and is directed by Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata. The style of animation in this film makes me immediately reminiscent of childhood. I grew up watching so many animated cartoons that sort of looked like this which makes me really excited about seeing this particular film in the near future.

I do wonder though why the sudden surge in interest...Can anybody enlighten me?
