Detroit Public Schools: A District In Crisis

Loveland has a very interesting report on Detroit public schools going as far back as 1842. The data is mined from public resources and put into a very digestible format along with amazing photos and anecdotes about how the Detroit public school system started, rose to prominence, and quickly fell to the wayside during economic and social hardships facing the city.

The report can be viewed online and is also available in book form from Blurb for $100 (with a few extras). There's also a really neat gallery of Detroit public schools as they appear today.

I miss this city. I can't wait to go back.
