The Washington Post's article in 1974 about Christine Chubbuck's suicide

Earlier today I posted a short piece about the live on-air suicide of newscaster Christine Chubbuck in 1974. At the time, it was reported that only a few hundred people may have seen Chubbuck commit suicide live on television. Even fewer, if any except for the TV station, may have been recording the segment which has led to this video being called one of the "Holy Grails" of missing videos in modern history.

One reporter named Sally Quinn wrote about the on-air suicide in The Washington Post a few days after it occurred. It's a long read (I made it a little easier to follow in the image above -- just click it to make it bigger or download it) but it goes quite in depth into the person Christine was and interviews the people in her closest circle about why she might have done what she did.
