Mott Street Cycles to close their store at the end of September

I'm feeling a little bittersweet at the moment as I put this post together. Last week, Mott Street Cycles (or MSC for short), the NYC-based bike brand that helped usher in a revitalized Chinatown/NoLita neighborhood, announced that they were going to shut their brick and mortar store at the end of September.

The news comes at the company's 6th year in business, a huge feat considering the fickle nature of the bike industry and how quickly it devours upstart bike companies like MSC. I had the rare opportunity to see this company sprout from the minds of its founders and do its part to foster a closer and more engaged biking community in NYC. And while it is sad to see the store shutter, I do think the the longterm effects of what MSC brought to the cycling community will linger for years to come.

Everyone at MSC is family to me and I'm glad I got to be a part of this adventure with them. Looking forward to their next!

If you or somebody you know needs a bike or any bike-related accessories, be sure to hit up the store before September as they are having massive markdowns on almost everything. Tell them Dooby sent ya!

PS: Over the next couple of days, I'll probably revisit some good MSC memories in my photo collection. Stay tuned!
