61 Ninth Avenue, the former site of Prince Lumber in the Meatpacking District, will soon be home to Starbucks Reserve Roastery in NYC. When completed, the location will be about 20,000 square feet in size and boast the title of the world's largest Starbucks.

Starbucks isn't always 2 blocks away in Manhattan, but it's pretty damn close

An interesting link that started from a simple Reddit thread. Is Starbucks really two blocks away in any direction in Manhattan?

Aleksey Bilogur took data from Yelp and mapped out nearly all of the Starbucks locations in Manhattan. Then he averaged their distances from about 2000 random locations in Manhattan and found that while the assumption that Starbucks is only two blocks away is incorrect, the real average distance from any point in Manhattan isn't that much farther.

Given the high concentration of Starbucks in several locations in Manhattan (Midtown, Columbus Circle) and the relative emptiness of Starbucks in other locations (East Village, Harlem), the average distance of a Starbucks in Manhattan ends up being 1335 feet away (that roughly translates to a little less than 2 avenues or about 5 blocks). So while it's not two blocks, 5 blocks still makes Starbucks seem like it's everywhere. And don't forget that there really are some places in Manhattan where Starbucks is 2 blocks away OR LESS in any direction.
