Phil A. O’Fish McDonald’s mascot
A short-lived McDonald’s fish mascot.
I was too young to remember this, but for a very short time in McDonald’s history, they advertised the famed Filet-O-Fish with a uniform-wearing fish named Phil A. O’Fish.
Also, I recently posted a video about whether the Filet-O-Fish is actually fish.
The history of the Filet-O-Fish
What’s inside the Filet-O-Fish?
I know this may gross some of you out, but if I had to choose a sandwich at McDonald’s, it would almost always be the Filet-O-Fish. This unassuming sandwich at McDonald’s always reminds me of my dad (he used to order this too!) and there was always something dangerous and mysterious about ordering a fish sandwich from a place known for their burgers. Also…the fish was in the shape of a square. It was all really weird and as a kid I loved it!
That ultra-smooth glistening bun is perfect and honestly, I want one right now as I’m writing this. And yes, this sandwich actually is fish.
If there aren’t enough Filet-O-Fish images in this single post to make you shiver, check out the official Filet-O-Fish image from McDonald’s media assets library below. Click it to make it big!
What in the world is blue raspberry?
A history of the blue raspberry flavor.
I’ve always wondered what this flavor was. I figured it was just some ‘90s thing, but its history goes way before that time!
A hot dog shaped food cart as a cargo bike
Is this my new dream cargo bike?
This is pretty nuts and I love it! I first saw a photo of this on Bluesky and instantly wanted to know more. It turns out this beautiful hot dog shaped bicycle vending machine is made by a company called ETO Foodcarts.
They specialize in highly customizable deployable food carts that can be as standard as you want or as unique as they come — hence this hot dog bicycle. It looks like so far only one of these were made and it went to a vendor in Los Angeles.
ETO Foodcarts also made a similar version of this hot dog food service cart as a towable trailer. The trailer features much of the same shape as this bicycle version shown here.
The Hario Suiren is a packable travel V60 coffee dripper
A Hario V60 perfect for compact travel.
I stumbled upon this by accident but I had no idea until recently that Hario actually makes a packable version of the V60 coffee maker best suitable for travel.
If you already own a V60 (size 02), this portable coffee maker will be perfect for travel as it uses all of the same filters. The difference with the Suiren is that it does away with the “walls” of the traditional V60 and instead uses a series of detachable “fins” that assemble together to create the cone shape funnel we all know and love from a V60.
The Suiren is available now for $20.
McDonald’s releases special edition mahjong set in Hong Kong
McDonald’s in Hong Kong has released a limited edition mahjong set!
Asia always gets the best stuff! McDonald’s in Hong Kong has announced a very special limited mahjong set featuring their iconic mascots! This set comes on the heels of other celebrations and special collaborations that McDonald’s is doing in Hong Kong as they celebrate a historic 50-year anniversary in the country.

I’m not sure if the 1850 release number signifies anything but I can pretty much bet that small number of sets has already been bought. Looks like it’ll be eBay from here on out!
