The history of the sandstone cliffs along Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles
Consider this a companion piece (although unrelated in production) to VICE's history of Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles. One thing that wasn't mentioned in VICE's video is the previous history and life of Sunset Blvd which was once the Ostrich Farm Railway. Today, the cut that went through these sandstone cliffs still remains, but no railroad is present. It is now replaced by Los Angeles' asphalt.
An amazing history of Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles
This is one of the better videos I've seen on VICE's channel lately. It follows one of their hosts as she explores the various neighborhoods that line the main street known as Sunset Boulevard. As I can confirm having lived there and visited many times, Sunset Blvd really is the boulevard of dreams. From the ultra rich to the poor, from one culture to the next, you can sort of travel the world on just one street. If you want to visit some of the best of Los Angeles, this video from VICE is a decent way to start making a list of neighborhoods in this sprawling city.
